What do you think of the whole myspace craze and how has it affected your band?

Myspace has been one of the best things for musicians in a long time, especially unsigned rock/indie
genres like us. We have been able to communicate, promote and make friends with people in our town and
across the world.

How long have you been together and how did you meet?

We have officially been Vaya for almost 4 years. I met John at a high school football game and John and I
have been playing music ever since we were 14, playing in our boxers and thinking we were the coolest
kids ever…in fact, we were the coolest kids ever. Tyler and Larry have known each other since they were
kids. Brian (Bruno) met me at prom in high school.

Whats the story behind your name? Were there any others you considered before
choosing Vaya?

Let me tell you what is NOT behind our name: nothing to with the At the Drive-In album. We hear it so much
that we just agree with anyone who says it. So, if you ask again where our name came from, At the Drive-In.
Personally, I like Relationship of Command better than Vaya.

You guys played SXSW this year, how did that go for you guys?

We had an absolute blast! Everyone was awesome in Texas. There are so many venues and opportunities
for bands. I think there are more venues on one street (6th) than there were in all of Atlanta. We played
two shows and both of them were really fun. We drank a lot of baby Lacheys. Hopefully, we will be back
there again next year.

What exactly is a Vayanista?

A Vayanista is a street team for our band that our good friend, Fleurette runs for us. She has been
incredible to us and we definitely owe her a lot. The Vayanistas also has a myspace, check them out.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music
before?

It’s kind of like Nickelback meets Staind. Hmm, wait, no. I would have to say just a solid rock band. We all
have different influences and different ingredients we bring to the band. I think that is why we are unique
and don’t exactly know how to label ourselves, but we know who we are. That is what we care about.

Craziest thing that has happened to you guys?

We had a lot of crazy/stupid things happen to us. Most recently we got pulled over at 7 in the morning in
Mississippi for no reason by a Barney Fife cop accusing us of all these things. I had just fallen asleep and
the cop woke me up. My eyes were swelled and I was laughing at him. He thought I was messed up and
made us all get out of the van and called his other Fife friends. We all got cuffed and sat on the side of the
road while they searched our vehicle. Almost two hours later, we were finally free to leave.

Is there anything new we should be looking out for?

We have been writing a lot of new stuff and are in the early process of writing a new record. We will be
playing the Florida Music Festival in Orlando next month which is always fun. We are also in the works of
setting up an east coast tour for the summer, so keep an eye out for us coming to your town.

What would you like your fans to know about you?

That we love every one of you. Seriously, we would be nothing without them and can’t express how
appreciative we are of them. We love meeting new people, so don’t hesitate to come up to us.

random stupid question

If you were stuck on a deserted island, which band member would you eat first?

Lets see, that a hard question…Larry is too skinny. John is too handsome. Tyler has a beard that probably
wouldn’t taste good. I would have to say Brian (Bruno) because he probably just ate some lemon pepper
wings and would be the most tender.
