your music itself. What do you think brought these changes about?
New Members, Inept is not the same band mentally as it was when it first started. We wanted to be
aggressive and such. To many bands were doing that same thing, We wanted to stop outside the box and
form our own identity. When Joey and Mike joined our band it was a perfect time to switch gears and
head towards the music we've always liked more anyway. A few older Inept songs paved the way for what
we are doing right now. So if anyone says we genre jumped, or switched. Just go listen to some old songs
like "I wish for you" "part of you" or one of the oldest inept songs to date "Be Air Tight'
What is the song writing process like for you?
It's actually quite simple, Lucas and Kevin work on the foundation of the song, then show the rest of the
band the song to finalize it instrumentally. After that is done Anthony comes in last with lyrics and vocal
melodies.
Who were some of your inspirations growing up?
Deftones, Smashing Pumpkins, Metallica, Creed *joey*, mike likes a lot of pop punk, and kevin likes
heavier music. It all comes together well and shows in our band.
How long have you all worked together?
How has that been? (Anthony, Kev, Lucas.)
Kevin and Lucas have been together since 2000, but
Anthony joined in very late 2002.
Since joining Inept, how have things changed for
you all? What made you two want to join this
band? (Joey and Mike)
Joey - "Things have been great and busy, but I wouldn't
change it for the world. This band is constantly working
hard to strive toward new goals and aspirations, and thats
exactly what I was looking for. I also wanted to play with
others that were just as passionate about turning their
dreams into reality as I was/am. It's incredible to be a
part of something where you are not only on the same
page, but the same sentence.
How exactly did everyone meet?
Kevin and Lucas went to High School, We met Anthony through a vocalist wanter flyer. Joey was in a few
local bands that we played with, so when we needed a new drummer i called him. I believe he was in
Wisconsin Dells drunk when i called him for the first time, asking him to try out. The next morning he woke
up and thought it was a dream! Mike was a fan of the band that played bass, I took a chance with that kid
asking him to audition and it worked out pretty well!
You guys are in the studio right now. What can the fans expect from this upcoming
release?
A Really well rounded Rock/Pop Record. See we're a band that will hug you until you fall over, then kick
your face in while you are on the floor!!! We want to show everyone that you can be catchy and happy yet
still rock ya know?? All the stereotypes are stupid. You can totally have a great mix of both and still rock it.
Inept has an awesome fanbase. What do you think keeps them coming back everytime?
We have fun on stage and it shows. We are not afraid to try something new or exciting. We are pretty
normal dudes who get up on stage and just rock it out. We like to just do our thing and show them (our
fans) that they can totally be doing what we're doing.
To date, what would you say your greatest accomplishment as a band has been?
Kevin - Well, personally mine was opening for my favorite band Deftones @ Taste of Chaos.
Joey got to play with his idol @ house of blues, that had to be pretty rad for him.
Any interesting road trip stories you'd like to share?
Yes and no, we are kinda chill dudes but we like to have a good time. Our humor is not really all that
sane. Stuff we laugh at or about, other people may find to be stupid. We just like to get to the city we are
rocking in and kinda walk around. We have friends all over so that really helps us.
Anthony likes to prank call people. It's a really fun time.
Kevin - We got caught in a really horrrible blizzard one night and decided to go hot tubbing at a hotel we
crashed at. That was probably my favorite moment ever. 4 dudes half naked hot tubbing made for a good
time. Oh and one time we heard / saw this guy get shot right outside our hotel room. That was pretty
crazy!!!!!
Joey - "I enjoyed waking to "With Arms Wide Open" by my favorite band of all time, Creed, at 6:00 in the
morning somewhere in the middle of Delaware!"
